Dysregulation in Women the big is it ADHD, Perimenopause & Midlife Question?

Somewhere We Got a Little Lost

There's so much noise in this space already, and I've been hesitant to add to it. But the conversations happening in my clinic feel too important not to share.

Somewhere along the way, we females got a little lost — and it happens for all kinds of reasons. Ten years ago, everyone was screaming "adrenal fatigue." Ten years on, we're flooded with perimenopause, early menopause, undiagnosed female ADHD, mast cell issues, POTS — the list keeps growing.

The truth is, we've been pushing too hard in all the wrong ways for too long. Working against the female design. Ignoring it. Depleting it.

Dive deep into TCM and the female body, and you can explain almost any one of these issues on its own. But there's no single, tidy fix that covers all of it at once — and that's exactly why it still feels so noisy. Everyone chasing a one-size-fits-all answer to something that was never going to have one.

One nervous system, many Labels

Whatever words are on the tip of your tounge — ADHD, perimenopause, burnout, POTS — the pattern underneath tends to look the same: a nervous system that's lost its capacity to regulate. That's not a personal failing. It's what happens after years of running on empty, possibly generationally running on empty, and it's where this work actually starts.

Hormones hold the answers

Hormones hold a lot of our answers. And our relationship with them started long before perimenopause — earlier than most of us will admit.

Kinesiology works with your whole nervous system and hormonal picture at once, rather than chasing one symptom at a time. Sessions blend gentle muscle monitoring, nervous system regulation and TCM-informed hormone support, following what your body actually needs rather than a fixed protocol.

Coming back to yourself

You don't need a tidy explanation before you're allowed to ask for support. A first session is simply a chance to be met where you are — in clinic in Coffs Harbour, or online from anywhere in Australia.

Hearing Sensitivity / Tinnitus

TCM connection: Kidney Meridian (Essence Depletion)

The Kidney meridian governs the ears. When kidney essence (jing) depletes, the auditory system becomes oversensitive and dysregulated. Studies specifically examining subjective tinnitus show consistent kidney deficiency patterns in affected patients.

Building jing will often need a multi-layered approach. It varies in individual, including the duration of depletion and other expressions within the physical, emotional, and spiritual body.

Meridian to Release: Kidney meridian (restore essence and auditory regulation) | Small Intestine (calm fire element reactivity)

Consistently waking around 2am

TCM Connection: Liver Meridian (Qi Stagnation or Yin Deficiency)

In TCM body clock theory, 1-3am is the liver meridian's peak time. Waking at 2am typically signals one of two patterns: liver qi stagnation (the liver cannot smooth the flow of energy and allow rest) or liver yin deficiency (the liver has no reserves to hold the blood and spirit during sleep). Either way, the body is showing you the liver and its meridian need more support.

Meridian to Release: Liver meridian (move stagnation and restore reserves) | Heart meridian (settle the spirit for deep sleep)

Consistent forgetfulness or Brain Fog

TCM Connection: Spleen & Heart (Qi & Blood Deficiency; Phlegm Obstruction)

In TCM, brain fog arises from multiple overlapping patterns, all stemming from depletion. The spleen, responsible for transforming food into clear qi, cannot do its job when qi is depleted — the result is mental fog and lack of clarity. The heart houses the spirit (shen); when heart blood is insufficient, the spirit cannot settle and the mind becomes clouded.

Additionally, when the spleen is weak, it cannot process dampness, leading to phlegm accumulation that literally mists the heart and obscures mental clarity.

Meridian to Release: Spleen meridian (restore qi transformation and mental clarity) | Heart meridian (nourish blood and settle the spirit) | Governing Vessel (clear phlegm obstruction)

Hormonal Frozen Shoulder

For this one, you will need to come into the clinic to find out more... But keeping you safe and immobilised will be at the core of that conversation.
